My money is on the fact that the files are in the wrong place.

One of my MP3 players does the same. You can put files anywhere, but if you want to play audio files, they have to be in the Music folder.

My phone is similar in it's fussyness (technical term).

Either that, or they're in the wrong format/bit-rate.

Was it OK before the battery went flat? Could be a system error caused by low voltage - try doing a reset. Dunno how you do cos I don't know which MP3 player you have....

Do you mean 2GB? Can't find details of the 2MB one..... Do you have a website address? They might be able to help. Failing that - RTFM - maybe it tells you how to do a reset!

Can you see them on a computer if you hook it up?

Try this - but don;t blame me if it all ends in tears!
http://www.fileden.com/files/2102/SigmaTelFirmwareExtract.7z

The file is compressed using 7-Zip. Download 7-Zip from http://www.7-zip.org/ to extract the file called FirmwareExtract.exe

I ran it and tried it on my player which contains SDK2.610 2G 2006/08/28 and it extracted the following files:

bootmanager.sb 266KB
usbmsc.sb 5,888KB
stmpsys.sb 256KB
resource.bin 512KB

Alternatively go to http://forums.cnet.com/5208-7595_102...218044&start=0 - but it is a bit of a depressing read! I don't think you bought a very reliable MP3 player!

I'd back your files up on a computer too (if you haven't already) before trying to sort it.. (don't know if that'll help with any copyrite control though)
