Default Man down

On my way home from work on Thursday a woman ina red golf pulled out from a side road in to me,
luckily i was doing 15mph under the 60 limit so i managed to avoid her. I did manage to get my knee down
on her card while producing a massive brown trouser moment. I pulled over an explained to the read
golf driver that because she could not be bothered to look to the right before she pulled out i could be dead .
She apologized and said that she just did not see me......
I think now is a good time to say that my bike is a yellow curvy my leathers are HG yellow Celtics and i also ride with full beams on.

Anyway after calming myself down i got back on Kim (any one else name your bike? ) about 2 miles
further down the road while doing about 30mph in a 40mph zone another lady this time in a green
golf pulled out from a turning on my left but this time she was turning right in to me.... i had no where
to go i tried to swerve and break but i could not go any where i got hit by her left light cluster and
then me and Kim departed company and Kim smashed in to the stationary ford in the on comeing
traffic lane while i was thrown down my own lane.
I got up apologized to Kim and pushed her to the side of the road. (i think that she is a write off)
I then climbed over a small wall so i could lie on some grass, while i got over the shock..... after a quick call
to the emergencies services i asked if any one had a pen and paper to take down peoples numbers.
the people in the blue ford got on with that.
At that point my ankles started to be sore so i took off my boots and my socks every thing looked abit swollen.
The ambulance turned up and i was loaded up and then the police arrived... I was dreading this with all the
stories of mad anti biker thinking in the police. The pc that dealt with the accident was ace he said that
the bike would be taken care off by the highway agency and that he would come and talk to me when i as
in the hospital to take my statement and to give me a producer.

Well its been a few day from that this is what has happened...
I have got 2 broken metatarsals
in my right foot and pulled a chunk of bone from my left ankle, after calling the pc saying that i would not
be able to get in to a police station he said not to worry as he would get if from the computers.
from just my and the other drivers statements (she said that i was speeding but also said that she
did not see or hear me....) he found that the crash was her fault and that he would recommend that she be
place on a driving improvement course at her cost.

but then they spoke to an eye witness who said that I was not speeding and that she was not looking
and that she was bullying her way out of the junction..... she has not been charged driving with out due care and attention.

Now all i have to do is to get her insurance to pay for my bike and for the massive amount of weeks that
i will have to spend bed bound (any thing up to 12 weeks )

Well after that tail i have a couple questions for you all

1) is Kim a wright off..... the damage that i have seen was bent forks smashed end can no riding controls
left on the bike as well as no faring left un-smashed.... but there could be more

2) does any one else have a nice cop story where one have been generally good to you as i am thinking that
they are all getting the same deal as bikers. you know a small % of crazies getting 90% of the press and that
is then used to make the stereotype of that kind of person.

3) Has any one else had a crash while wearing flash pants? mine were leopard print y fronts with
electric blue trim the nurses loved them...

4) does any one know what i can do for the time i am bed bound, my best idea would quickly lead to
chaffing...... soo any good bike books or the similar.

and thats about it thanks for reading and ride safe. I will add photos the moment i can get my wife to pass me the usb cable

get well soon mate, i would say that the insurance company will write it off. While you've got twelve weeks spare start planning for the replacement.
Get straight back on ready for the summer.
The same thing happened to me when i was a 16yr old pup on a scooter its a sh**er.

Thats a major bummer! Glad to hear your not injured any worse though. Cars bullying their way out of junctions- typical! As for your questions
1. I'd imagine so. No one likes a yellow curvy
2. Had a lot of bad experiences with ignorant cops. However one pulled me over at 90, and warned me that i had a strap (about 1.5m long) hanging loose over the back wheel! It was ****ing it down, so he skipped looking at my exhaust too
3. No but if i did crash- I'd hope so
4. I'm sure some people on the forum near you can gather some bike magazines between us to get to you somehow. You can start shopping for your next bike. Have you got internet access from you bed? And maybe get some lego

Ouch, and then REALLY OUCH! That sucks, but glad to hear you are still in one piece. I am getting bored being house-bound with my cruciate ligament injury, so I know what you are going through.
In answer to your questions.

1; Dunno really (not very helpfull)

2; Every time I go to work! I'm a luverly, kind and generally all round good bloke (so my Mum says!)

3; Not flash pants, but when I broke my leg whilst flying a kite (honest) it was a very hot day and I was, um, well, wanting a breeze to flow, so was commando! No more detail due to reccuring embarresment....

4; Drink. A lot. Lunchtime isn't too early when you can't do anything else! Cruise the internet, with no-one home apart form you, you can look at anything you want, even, dare I say it, this really disgusting sort of thing

Get well soon.

Pete

Goddam! Two SMIDSY's in one day is just not fair! Really sorry to hear of your off, that really sucks. nothing you can do when they just pull out on you.

Hope the pain is not too great and that you mend real quick.

sorry to hear that mate. Two in one day.. Maybe someone was out to get you. Anyway heal well and keep us up to date with the bike and stuff! At least the compensation for your injuries means you will have a few pennies when the insurance on your bike comes back with some £3.50 offer.

Yowzer and ouch, glad your OK.
Get a Games machine and a telly in your room, also a small fridge and a telephone. That should keep you entertained for awhile.
Also don't forget the bell and get your missus to dress up as a maid, that should keep you smiling.

Well i have been thinking about to replace the 6 year old yellow curvy with
and i have a number of runners

a Buell ulysses
a bandit 650
a bmw f650
a 883 sporster
some kinde of triumph (i know that jordans has an ok looking tiger going cheap.)

or should i just go for some kind of inline 4 super sports filth.

Im not saying that i would not like another sv but i Just want to take my time to have another look about at the market and see if there is another bike i could enjoy out there. It also means that i can have a load of test rides to look forward to when i get fit again. so what doi want from a bike
it has to be low mantinace as i will easily do 40-50 miles every day as well as 150 over the weekend if its nice out. On my way to work i ride through the middle of leeds and out the other side and then down some nice twisties so servicing every 4k was just a bit to regular for me. My week end stuff i go up the Yorkshire dales up to aysgarth. I will also go down to Devon every so often. As you can see i don't want a lot from a bike. Let me know if youcan think of anyother bikes that my well fit that wish list.

still working on the pic for you so far i have
x-rays of foot
flashy pants
bruising coming out all over the shop.

a bit later on i will also post a full review of my kit that i crashed in to let you know how it went.

any way thanks so far for the get well soon messages i will also put a post to invite youall along to my first ride out once i am better.
