Default What to buy for my next bike ?

Mrs Ones says she thinks I should get a new bike. I have an SK5 with lowers and 26k on the clock to trade. (I have about £100pcm to spend). What should I get?

Wondering if I could haggle a CBR1100XX for that!

Ideas? It needs to look sporty and be able to stand the 13k miles a year I do for at least the next 3 years.

VFR750/Last Good 800, or any of the pre-1000cc Blades I reckon... Though they might push your budget to get a good one of any of those? CBR600F?

get the ZX-6R on 0% for 3 years. wth the trade in upping the standard £99 deposit you might be able to get the payments down to £100PCM

Last model of ZX6R reacted to winter the same way most bikes react to acid, though... From what I've seen lately kwak are even worse than suzuki.

New Fazer Thou' It looks sporty for a semi faired bike, and handles better than some 3 or 4 year old litre super sports machines (so the man in the showroom said...).

For that amount of miles I reckon it's a good choice. Or, as Andy says, 00-03 'Blades (929 & 954cc) are great mile munchers but still have plenty of sports prowess.

Well, first shock of today was the rediculous variations in prices. VFR800 in Watford £6700 ish in Letchworth it was £8700 ish (with a reluctance to haggle with me - bad, bad move I think!) At £8700 the VFR was only £150 cheaper than a CBR1100XX. So as Mrs Ones put it,"Brand spanking new Blackbird £150 more than brand spanking new VFR, excuse me, do you ever sell a VFR?"

I did stumble on a bike I hadn't even considered though, and at a gorgeous price! Bandit 1250S with ABS under £5,500 brand new. I might be going back for a better recce!!!

Theres always a Blackbird parked up next to my smoking spot at work, absolutely beautiful looking bikes! I'd go one of those given the decision.

If you've never ridden a 'Bird you're in for a bit of a shock.

They look heavy and cumbersome but when mobile they are so easy to ride. They filter well, and on my first large roundabout I scrapped the pegs, that's how easy they go round corners. Admittedly, it's no supersport bike, but it surprised me how nimble it was for such a big bike.

I can think of a couple of reasons why the VFR would sell over the CBX. Mainly if you really like to rag your bike down country lanes etc, the VFR will do this quite happily - its a tourer that wants to be a sports bike. The Blackbird has more finesse and gives the impression of "slow" when it's actually bloody fast.

Both are great bikes - there are rumours of a new VFR next year, possibly a litre engined V4.
