Hi everyone
I thinking of getting tom tom sat nav rider, anyone know the best place to purchase one, and can anyone tell me, that if you want a nice motorbike route can the tom tom do that for you ??? I do not see much point is it just takes you on motorways Thanks SANDY ![]() ![]() |

Basically it will get you from where you are to where you want to go in either the quickest route or by avoiding motorways.
As for a nice biking route, well not really, but you could enter your destination and tell the Sat Nav to avoid motorways. I have just been through this decison making process and opted for a GArmin Zumo after a lot of research. I have to say fitted it to the bike today and I am 100% impressed. |

Ah, but as I understand it, you can work out a good route on your PC, then download it to your TT device. If not, I've just wasted £300!

As far as I'm aware you can't plan and dl a route from your PC on the original tomtom rider. If your set on a tomtom go for the new version 2. Personally though it's more expensive I think the Garmin Zumo looks like a much better piece of kit.

I have Tomtom rider. Yes you can plan the route on your pc, but it is not easy you see the Tomtom screen on your PC screen and you can use mouse to operate the unit.
An other way is to use google earth + Tyre http://www.tyre.tk/ This combination makes it easier. |

Er, I'll tell you when I've found out - I only got the jobby Friday afternoon. If TomTom Home is no real use (which I'm beginning to suspect), I do know there's a freeware converter which will take an Autoroute AXE file and squirt out a TomTom itinerary file. Down load that, and the job's a goodun (I hope).

From what I've read, the complaints about TomTom seem to be about the hardware, not the software. But as ever, IKBA.

I have a Tom Tom go 510, and a Garmin Zumo.
The Garmin is far suiperior and wins hands down. I did loads of research before buying my garmin. |
