Default Creative Writing

and/or writing a novel.

Who on here knows anything?

This place is normally a font of all strange/bizarre knowledge so anyone got any experience/tips etc?

I'm afriad my one and only forray into writing was for the BBC Comedy Writers awards a few years back. Myself and 2 work colleagues wrote 3 comedy sketches as entry to the competition. Having seen the finalists we thought we were a little hard-done-by. But on reflection our humour probably wasn't "universal"

It was good fun though ... although I still, to this day, have no idea what my mate, Mike, was on when he came up with "spiders on motorbikes that turn into mobile phones"?!

One of the three sketches we wrote was:
FWF - Fish Wrestling Federation - basically a skit on WWF but with blokes dressed in stupid fish costumes. Complete with American commentators (Chuck Ipback and Hal Ibbot, geddit?) voicing such awful puns as "he's caught him with his patented 'fish slice' manoeuvre", and "he fell for that one, hook-line-and-sinker".

The others weren't much better either ...

The ones we threw away were probably even worse ... like "The Nun Oscars" (best dressed nun, best nun in a foreign role, etc. the "oscars" were supposed to be statuettes of christ on the cross)

Oh and then there was "mean mother trucker" - the HGV driving vigilante nun whose escapades in catching petty criminals usually ended in destruction that vastly outweighed the cost of the crime itself.

Sadly (?!) these never saw the light of day! LOL

Good luck with it tho Kinvig, what you thinking of writing?
I think the BBC website has a few good resources on writing for TV and the such.

A mate and I are currently writing 'something'. It seems to be taking on a life of it's own. When it's done we'll be getting it copyrighted and then maybe submit it to publishers and see what happens.

Not really at the stage to know more, I'm afraid.
