This is about dizzyblondes black bike.
She came to it today and it wouldn't start, turned over once then clickclick of relay and nothing... Battery flat, swapped for a charged spare, started right up; 12.8volts on battery open circuit 10.summatvolts on cranking idle, lights on 13.5v 5000rpm, lights on 12.8v (yes less than at idle of 1100rpm) Looks like a knackered RR unit to me, anybody disagree? Yep, that'd be my assumption- that's exactly what my last one did, voltage dropped as revs rose.

Morning all.
It does indeed sound like the RR has had it, but I would still check the alternator for AC output, & leakage to earth. Cheers. |

reg gone, completly melted. Get a genuine suzuki spares one - its a differant design to the original one, so suzuki must have upgraded it.
Some people have fitted honda ones. Dont by a second-hand one, its probably fried aswell. Dont by a third-party one, it'll last 5 mins then you'll be back to a dead reg Matt |

I fitted a CBR600RR one... It hasn't broken yet, is really all I can say there, but I expect goodness from it, since they don't break as a general rule. They're also a safer used buy- not hard, used SV and GSXR reg/recs have roughly the same odds of a win as the national lottery... And they tend to be cheap, since they're not in demand, as they don't break much. Even fits perfectly, though it did need the wiring changed to suit the SV. Very easy (once Sid Squid tells you how to do it!
![]() I do have a K2 reg/rec, absolutely brand new (even got the box somewhere) which I've fitted once for testing then stored away... The K2 has a different wiring setup than earlier SVs, and also I think later ones for that matter, just to be awkward... But it'd refit with 5 minutes of soldering. So if that'd help, let me know. I could swap the plugs if need be but it'd be a shame with a new part.
