Thumbs up the ultimate tyre thread

This is a regular question so i thought id get the recomendations of the org in a very simple to understand way, for any newbies

Hence the poll and the required post info

I will reveiw this every 6 months to keep it upto date with new tyres etc

On the poll you will see the various brands simply vote for your favourite
then in you post put this information

Which Bike: sv650/sv1000/gsxr/cbr, etc
Tyre Brand: avon/dunlop/bridgestone, etc
Tyre Model: storm st2/ roadpilot 2, etc

Mileage front: 10,000 miles approx etc
Mileage rear: 8,000 miles approx etc

Bikes main use: commuting/weekend/track/touring or weekend and track etc

If you like 1 tyre for trackdays and another for touring please do 2 seperate posts

The poll will be multi choice for the reason above (all poll inputs must be done on first post if doing the above)

Please no discussion on this thread just the above facts so anyone can just scan through the figures to see what fits the bill for them

The rules for tyres are:

They must have been fully used till replacement required (eg a punture didnt half the milage of the tyre)

Must be road legal

No my mates tyres or manifacturer says, these tyres must have been used by you ,on your bike , as the point is its YOUR favourite

To anyone reading this remember these are real peoples opinons/bikes/and riding styles .
The info gathered will vary even with the same tyre due to the above.
This is for guidance and no other purpose, from bikers for bikers

I'm sorry mate, but I don't get it; it is all way too subjective.

Buying tyres is a bit like walking into a sweet shop; sometimes you fancy a mars bar, sometimes you fancy a marathon.

All the tyres I have used have had strong points and downsides so I don't have a favourite tyre, but best value for money

Which Bike: sv650s
Tyre Brand: Avon
Tyre Model: Storm ST
Bikes main use: Commuting/weekend/track
Would I buy again?: No - far too many other sweeties to try.

1-
Which Bike: CBR600RR
Tyre Brand: Dunlop
Tyre Model: D218

Mileage front: 2750
Mileage rear: 2750

Bikes main use: Fun only (no commuting) + 2 trackdays
Small opinion: Honda standard issue... were just ok

2)
Which Bike: CBR600RR
Tyre Brand: Bridgestone
Tyre Model: BT021

Mileage front: 5000
Mileage rear: 5000

Bikes main use: Fun only (no commuting) + 1 dry and 1 wet trackday
Small opinion: Terrible tyre for me, they didnt enjoy the track, the wet or and gave no feedback when making good progress on the road...stood upto abuse and if just bimbling could probably last for 10k+

3)
Which Bike: CBR600RR
Tyre Brand: Michelin
Tyre Model: Power 2CT

Mileage front: 1000 and Ongoing
Mileage rear: 1000 and Ongoing

Bikes main use: Fun only (no commuting)
Small opinion: Awsome tyre so far, pushed the front end harder on these than I have ever have on anything else. Feedback is great and grip seems endless.

Which Bike: sv650
Tyre BrandMichelin:
Tyre Model: Pilot Road 2

Mileage front: 9000 miles
Mileage rear: 9000 miles

Bikes main use: commuting and weekend fun, fron probably had 2mm maybe a bit more left but i swapped them both for another pair (cheaper to do it same time than miss a sat overtime to get front done at later date)

I dont have a favourite, as per Simesb, sometimes I want a Double Decker, sometimes I fancy a mars bar. I pick what best suits what I am likely to be doing with the bike at the time I buy the tyres.

SV, Ran these

Bridgestone BT010, Bridgestone BT020, Metzler Z6, liked them all, cant remember the milleage I used to get. Prefered the 010 front 020 rear combo as opposed to 020 all round. Metzlers were an improvement grip wise, especially in the wet.

GSXR, tried these

Bridgestone 014 orginal fitment, plus a set of UK Spec 014's

Horrid, tyre wear was ridiculous ( rear lasted 1800 miles ) good when hot and riding hard, terribly unpredictable otherwise, and competely useless in the wet. Threw the last set away after a puncture, they go off very very quickly towards the end of their life. Confidence robbing, black round horrible piles of poo !

Michellin Pilot Power 2CT

Liked these, round profile means progressive turn in. Rear lasts 3000 - 3500 miles. Bit vague at the start of a ride / when cold, but fine once heat into them and stay consistent

Pirelli Diablo Corsa III

Pretty similar to the Power 2CT, work better / heat faster in cold and wet. Profile feels more aggressive so tip in to corners faster and feel a bit twitchy, Consistent once up to temp, milleage about the same as the Power 2CT.

Metlzer Z6

Feel the same as they did on the SV, good cold / wet grip, decent enough for spirited riding, but survived a belting up and down the motorway to Scotland and back and a trip into france. I think the rear went horribly square after 4500 miles but probably could have got some more miles out of them.

Back on Pilot Power 2CT, really because its the only tyre I felt comfy enough on confidence wise to get rid of my rear chicken strips on both sides and I want to rebuild my confidence because I havent ridden much in the last 18 months.
