Surely you wouldn't leave it to the last minute would you? What if you failed the test or were ill on the day - then you'd have no time to re-take it?

I know someone who is in this exact problem. Got called off and it was the day before they all changed...
Sucks! He's 19 though so he thinks its better cos he can get a 48brake bike (is it 48?)

I would rather be stuck on 33 now and get unrestricted after 2 years, without having to do another costly test, but hey ho, I've already got my licence.
A better idea would be once the test is passed, approved schools could just give training on the larger machines and sign off on a licence upgrade, sort of like how a CBT is done. |

Erm, i dont think that they can do that? It was booked under the old scheme and im sure that they have to honour their agreement. Anthing that was booked, or was to take part AFTER the rule change then fine, they do the new test.
I would like to see someone challenge this legally thats for sure. Probably just another piece of bad incorrect reporting in MCN. If it was me, and they said i couldnt take the test under the old legislation, id be straight down the solicitors thats fo sho. |

“We wrote to trainers last year to make them aware that any tests cancelled and rescheduled after January 19 would fall under the new licence rules. We suggested in December that they prioritise tests for customers under the age of 24 to help minimise the impact of any cancellations."
If that is true then people won't be able to go the legal route.

Not really. Unless it stated in the small print when booking your test that if your test is cancelled and reshecduled after the new the rules date you will have to complete under the new legislation, then there is most definitly a legal route. Also aginst the riding school as well. it was not made clear then there is a clear case for compensation/test under the old rules. Just because some rag tells the DSA that this is how it is dont make it so. Its only going to take one case to make it, then they will all have to follow.
Personally, i dont see what the issue is and why they can not complete the test type as booked. If the riders fail, then tough. |

That quote is from the DSA not MCN.
