Default Rear Caliper Upgrade

Anyone know of a simple bolt on rear caliper upgrade for a SV650 K3?

I'm after a 2 pot or 4 pot caliper that bolts on without needing a degree in engineering or a bank balance like Bill Gates', so the rear brake power matches that of the front now its sporting 4 pots up front

my question is why?

i have radial callipers on the front and the standard SV rear calliper.. plenty stopping power, in fact its too much tbh. you dont want too viscous a rear brake as you run the risk of the rear coming round on you when you stamp in anger.

i put DP pads on mine and since they have a ceramic coating on them there is no need for shims so i took the OEM ones out.. bad move as it turned the rear into an on-off switch so i put the shims back in and its much much better as the rear now has feel.

As above

Mike Hailwood was famous for not using the back brake.

Most of the time they need a good service to keep them working in top order.

I noticed that mine didn't work as well when i changed pad brands.

I've nearly finished refurbing mine, and ill get those pads bib recommended.

That seems like a wast of time and effort.Theres more than enough rear brake as standard so why not invest in some suspension mods instead?More bang for your buck that way.

I've never stamped the rear brake, but I've seen what often happens when it's done.
I rarely use my rear brake, mostly to hold the bike on a hill as I start out.

i use my the rear all the time ok mostly front braking but its always supported with the rear, i also use the rear for slow manoeuvring (mini roundabouts, u turns etc.etc) and the last bit of coming to a stop at lights, junctions.

For the record, the Sv does not have 4 pot callipers...we all wished it did...unless you have upgraded that is. The front callipers on the SV are of the Sliding 2 pot variety and the rear is a twin opposing piston. As said, a good service and clean and its more than enough for the lightweight SV. They can corrode quickly, so regular maintenance is needed...as are the front, especially through winter.

I do love when theis subject comes up and how people dont use it etc etc. Like most, in town riding, i use my rear all the time. Its there, why not use it?

I use mine when coming to a stop and have never found it lacking. Even locked up the rear until I got used to it.

That's a curvy. Single pot sliding on a K3.

My rear brake failed the MOT as it was too spongy. I bled it and now I hate it - too sharp. Fortunately it seems to be losing its edge over time.
