You need a provisional I'm afraid. You know you can't drive on L plates by yourself like on a bike?

Look on the paper counterpart of your license. It lists all provisional entitlements you have.
eg. mine says BE - car with trailer, and GH - no idea!! All the full entitlements when you pass go on your pink plastic card - Bike, etc. If you don't have the provisional B (car) category then you will need to send it off to be added. |

Stu, I've never seen any insurance policies that you can have both a car and a bike on ... for one thing, I expect that the wording of the policy would be a legal quagmire given the differences in car and bike insurance.
However, on the plus side, there are insurers who offer car and bike policies (separately) and I believe some may (although I can't confirm this) offer discounts for taking out more than one policy with them. eGroup Insurance (eCar, eBike, eVan, eHome) do policies for each and are fairly good - you can manage your policies online too - although I've just gone with MCE for bike insurance, I'm still with eCar for my car insurance. I notice that Tesco Finance are starting to do motorbike insurance now too (they already do car insurance). I've used them before for car insurance and can recommend them also. HTH, Pete |
