Right ok bet that looks a bit of a dumb question. Ran outta fuel on the CBR this morning, it doesnt have a petrol light so its all a guessing game lol. So its on reserve atm, do i have to turn the nozzle to reserve and fill up that way? Or just fill up as normal?

![]() or the best one, before i even bought the bike, i was test riding it along the M27, in the second lane, went to go past a car and the bike died, thought the throttle cable had snapped because i couldn't hear that the engine had stopped, as i rolled up along the hard shoulder i still hadn't realised that the fuel tap needed switching to reserve and proceeded to try and start it for a few minutes ![]()

I thought the idea of the reserve was you ran the bike as normal and when you ran out off fuel you turn the tap on to reserve to get you to the next fuel stop. AFTER refueling go back on to normal. Didn't quiet understand the original post as it doesn't matter where the tap is when you refuel, its only one tank

I think that is what he was after; what setting to have the tap on to fill up. As DT said, it's one tank, but the reserve fuel pipe inlet is lower than the main one. switch it back to normal and fill to brim.

The tank has two tubes leaving it, one near the bottom, one up a bit. The petcock selects which tube the petrol comes out of, the lower one being the reserve. So what happens is you fill up, and turn the tap off of reserve, when you hit reserve, what you are doing is not selecting a different tank, just the lower outlet. Hope this helps David
