Default Choke lever on a Fi bike???

May be getting an o3 Zx636 which a FI bike, however it has a lever on the right hand bar which looks and acts like a choke lever, I though FI bikes got rid of the need for a manual choke? Or is it not a choke at all...?

Another thing (Sorry about Kwaks again) why do the bike that are the shape before the 03 bike have the front sub-frame kind of coming out from the screen bit and into the ****-pit? I wouldn't mind getting one of these bikes but that really puts me off. Sorry to anyone who has one

My dads GSXR600 had one too, and he aswell corrected me when I said "dad, why has it got a choke if its FI?"

"thats a cold-start lever matt"

I would prefer to have an FI bike if it could sort out its cold starting for itself, like my dads GSXR750 does

They are usually just an extra air control to prevent stalling from cold, the FI looks after the enrichment function itself, usually as a function of temp, time, rpm and perhaps cycles after start etc.

It's a cheap way of getting round the issue of controlling extra-air without the need for stepper motors etc. Car systems with idle speed control do it for you.

Some bikes have it, on the TL it just pushes the throttle open a little bit, as the temp of the bike is low it runs on the cold map as well.
