Default Lent

So, pancake day is here, yummy, scrummy pancakes! Yay!

But, don't forget what it symbolises, the day before Lent.

What are you giving up until Easter then? For me, it's going to be Alcohol. I drink too much 'cos I'm at home a lot at the moment (knee, operation, blah blah blah) and am sick of it.

So, what are you all turning your back on? Will you stick to your guns for the whole 40 days?

Work probably unless I can find myself another contract
Alcohol, I'd give up, but since I don't drink that much anyway that's not much of a hardship.
Might try and give up taking the cage to work!
But what I shall probably do is NOTHING as I'm not religious and so to sacrifice something in return for some blessing from some god would be hypocritical of me IMHO

Even though I was sent to a Catholic school, I am the MOST non-religious person!

I'm just using Lent as a means to an end. I need to cut back, and it's as good a time as any.

Isn't it a throw back from when some jewsih people went into the wilderness after being imprisoned by the pharoh (who may have been called Joseph). Angels killing first born sons & stuff. Then Kirk Douglas getting nailed to a tree for being spartacus before Santa Claus was born in a dairy?

Not sure where Noah fitted into all this but Indiana Jones gave his ark to the americans for safe keeping so it must be true.

I think it happened a long time ago in a galaxy far away.

Well I'm not religious, so really I don't have to give up anything. But I guess its a reason to do something.

I'll give up being a bit lazy with learning stuff, and learn as I go along instead...then exam time wont be so stressfull

Last semester of Uni ever

Matt

This seems odd, your non religious, yet your using the event as a means to change something. Why not just change it cos you want to???

Because sometimes, people need that extra bit of help with something. If you keep plodding along saying "yeah, I'll change next week", then a year goes by and it's the same old same old.

I'm not doing it for a religious principal, I'm doing it because I want to, it's a target that's easy to spot with a defined start and end. Much like New Year resolutions, just a month late!
