Had a few disturbing dreams recently, ones that keep re-occuring. I don't usually remember my dreams but keep waking up it (would rather not say what about).
Nothings really come up to spark them off, but keep having the same one. I know you usually get dreams from things you've seen or heard in the previous days, but what about the same one? |

usually dreams are set off because your absolutely knackered. I dream all the time, very odd ones and surreal. A lot of them are in the first 5 mins of my head hitting the pillow. Im Indoors swears blind he never dreams. But he too does in the first 5 mins, more so after night shift or a full on beerfest. I know what he dreams about as its the same one every time. BUT the event in question is from 10 years ago. If I get him to speak whilst in dream mode he usually utters 'baldwin ward' and goes back to sleep.

You haven't just given up smoking have you? I didn't dream (or at least didn't remember them) until I gave up smoking, then had some pretty weird ones.
In my case dreams are usually the brain mulling through the events of the day and I can usually figure out where they have come from. In the case of recurring dreams for me it's usually the result of stress or anxiety, but doesn't have to be a related subject matter to the cause, but related to the feeling of stress itself. For me it's often dreaming of being in an examination hall*, or the crossing of a busy road and the body turns to lead half way across and can't move quick enough to get to the other side in time. If you do have something that is causing you stress, money, exams, work, illness, family, legal problems, all sorts that you may not even realise, firstly you need to identify it. Those close to you often know better than you do when you are stressed and they can possibly see why, so talk to them. Once identified, I've read that writing down one thing that you are going to do the next day to help relieve that stress before you go to sleep can help. Never tried it though. *(I have exam phobia even though I usually pass with flying colours 'cos I spent so many days in paraniod and panic driven studying). In past I've heard that you only remember dreams when you're awake. And also agree, the only times in the past I'v had re-occurring dreams is when something in my life has changed or I've been mulling and overly stressed about a particular event/activity. Wise words there -Ralph- ![]() |
