Default Engine cut

Hi all, I rode about a mile from cold this morning, and without warning the engine cut out with a loud pop, kind of like a backfire. Started ok afterwards and seems fine now, but it happened mid bend on an even throttle. The engine was running smooth just before it happened, any ideas?

Had something similiar a while back with my curvy, turned out to be the clutch lever sensor under the clutch perch. It kept cutting the bike out, but not falling out which was odd. Just by passed it by connecting the wires.

- Check the clutch lever sensor, see if its wobbly
- Check the kill switch is seated properly
- Check for crap in the side stand switch

Over than that, wait for a pointy owner to answer..............

Thx m8 that might explain why sometimes when i start the bike the engine won't turn over, even though theres electric power to the rest of the bike, are the switches cheap to replace?

It usually takes a wiggle about and a cleaning to get them to work again, give it a go. Also the gunk at the side stand plunger switch can cause problems (put the SV on a stand and raise the side stand up, you'll see what the plunger is if you do not know already).

To be honest, I bypass any switch thats a problem now (I maintain my own and several over peoples bikes). It is easy, all you need to do is connect the two wires leading to the switch together.

I got that bored of wiring faults that I re-wired the whole bike and chucked all the safety switches in the bucket of "misc" stuff which lurks in my garage somewhere.

So if you need a sidestand switch then I've got 2 spare, also a clutch switch.
