Default Bandit12 engine whine

A bloke at work has got himself a K3 B12, he got it in Nov but has only ridden 30 odd miles, anyway the symtoms are: From about 2000 revs up, in third gear and above it makes a hell of a whine. He's taken it to his nearest suzi dealer who said it's the gearbox, he's also taken it back to where he got it who is that confident it's not the gearbox has said he will give an extra three months warranty on it.

Do any of the Org have experience in this? Ideally he wants an 'they all do that sir' from previous owners, or you're so and so is knackered.

Or do any of you know of good bandit sites I can send him to?

Cheers

Ste

I had a pre-facelift version (99 on a T plate) but the engine was ostensibly the same as the later K models. Mine had something like 34k on the clock by the time I sold it, so was well run in (!) but I never had anything like the symptoms described above - though if it had, I doubt I would have heard it over the open race can The clutch got a bit iffy in the end, but they all do that sir.

For a good source on Bandit info online, the SUKBOG mailing list is the best place to look - they're a good bunch and they've all been running Bandits for god-knows how long so if it's a known issue, someone there will have seen it.

If he's already got a warranty from the place he bought it, can they not have a proper look over it to find the problem?
