Default I am ashamed...

I decided my swingarm bearings are overdue a service- I realised a while back that I never did it at the last big service, just the linkages, so I decided to get it done today. The LHS bearing was completely solid, spacer was basically welded in, when I knocked the spacer out the bearing came with it. No wonder the suspension's been feelin a bit odd!

Luckily I had a spare swingarm with new bearings and spacers... But let this be a lesson, this is something that always gets overlooked, and it needs doing from time to time.

If you run as much oil on your chain as I do, there is no chance at all that any of the suspension bearings could ever seize!!

I never strip the swing arm to grease it ... too much hassle!!

Yes, most guys would rather eat worms than do that kind of work.
Myself, I do it once a year.

Probably every 6 months or so for me, last time did it just because I had the exhaust off and rear wheel so thought might as well do that and re-splurge the general area with PTFE.

Is it the same tool as the engine mounting bolts? There's a guy on ebay called Turbosuzuki who sells stainless tools for about ?30

You could do it with a hacksaw, and a lot of patience... But it would suck to try The £17 B&Q angle grinder would be sufficient though, or a cheap dremel ripoff. Or, of course, anyone who wants one can borrow mine, I got it from another forum member so you'd all be welcome, I won't need it again for a while.

It was in the shed, not the garage, doesn't count I got it off Ebay for £30, arrived in a sealed Suzuki box with a complete set of bearings in. Delighted! It's an N model though so a bit longer. I've got a spare spare as well but it was a bit scabby. The original one's now in the recycling (I'm waiting to see if they'll take it away in the aluminium cans box )
