I'm getting a new Gixer about mid-March. As it's black I've been thinking about getting plastic paint protection - but I'm not sure if I really need it. I'm getting conflicting advice about it, so I'd thought I'd ask the org for thoughts and comments. For example, I've heard that Suzuki paint/quality is crap (yet my SV606 paint work has been okay and up to the job.) Black paint is softer than any other colour??? so it scratches easier. I'll get a lot of stone chips, yet my SV has none (well a few tiny ones.)
What would you do? |

I would get them to throw it in. Yes I don't know how good it is, but it has to be better than nothing right.

Maybe too late to get them to throw it in as the deal has been agreed.
I agree, it's better than nothing. I've worked it out as being about ?90 for the paint protection and about ?200 to get it put on (the dealer doesn't do it.) I had a look on a website http://www.invisiblefilm.co.uk/stepone.html and it looks as if you could do it yourself, but the idea of making a mess of it on a brand new bike!!! |

I don't think you'd mess up the bike doing it wrong, the worst you could do is ruin the film.
What you could do (and what I would do) is go to the motorcycle show at ingliston in 2 weeks time as they're gonna be there. You could ask thier advice on fitting it yourself vrs getting it fitted, and maybe get a discount or 2 on the actual stuff. |

Hi Gavin,
Why have we never met you on any rideouts?????? Myself and Quedos are close to you, as is CarelessChucca. Anywho - Quedos has got this stuff on her ER6f which is black. The stuff looks great and was put on by the supplying dealer (PerthMCS). It's a Scottish company too, so that's a big bonus. Check out: http://www.defendall.com/ It's all computer cut to suit each bike. Cheers, Garry ![]() |

Hi Garry,
Although I've been biking for years, this is the first forum that I've joined. I've not really been on any rideouts with anyone for a long time. Mainly because of my job, long hours etc.... Anyway, I was thinking of going on a rideout soon (I noticed the Ice Cream run to Largs.) So I'll keep a lookout for rideouts over the spring/summer. Thanks for the info about paint protection, I'll check it out and let you know. |

There's only ONE that you simply CANNOT miss - the Easter Egg Run. Easter Sunday. There's a thread for this years somewhere and it contains the link to the main Egg Run site. On there you'll find details and photos etc. Garry ![]() |

I've got some ventureshield stuff on mine, or had rather- it's on bits that aren't currently fitted. I found it very hard to not get it fingerprinty, but I was probably just doing it wrong. It did work, though. It shouldn't really be neccesary though, I just put it on some exposed parts as my paintwork isn't as tough as OEM. A good coat of wax offers pretty decent protection on non-rubbing surfaces frinstance.

Thanks for the info. I emailed the Company that Garry mentioned and they've come back with a quote of ?185 which is about ?115 less than I expected to pay. I'm still thinking about it because like you. I agree that it shouldn't be necessary. |
