Default steering damper.

my question, is there a steering damper for my curvey sv? i wouldnt mind trying one just to see what its like, i can some times get a lil wobble when going over nasty roads a bit quick or cat eyes etc. wondered if a steering damper would be worth having if so whats about?

cheers scott

The old "my bike shakes its head so dampen the steering" doesn't work too well. just covers up the problems. Getting a rear shock to suit you would be far better for the money involved.

If it doesn't move when you sit on it then lower the preload

No preload doesn't soften the spring, just changes where it starts from in its travel.

Back that ring off on the rear shock so it "feels" softer. About 30mm of movement when you sit on it is about right iirc

Basically, the steering geometry of the Sv means you don't need a steering damper. It's never going to get to the point where it'll shake it's head by design.

Spend your money on new fork springs from Maxton!
