Default torque wrench question

I've just fitted a sw-motech rack to my bike and i need to go round and torque all the bolts. The instructions say 23NMs, but my torque wrench goes from 28 to 210Nms, and nowhere within walking distance sells one with a lower range.

So do u reckon 28NMs would harm the threads of bolts meant to be done up to 23?

Hmmm.

23Nms is not very much. Must be smallish bolts. Given that your torque wrench goes up to 210Nms I would doubt it's accuracy at the minimum setting. Also I would guess that the T/W is a long one, so you won't get much feel for the tension.

I would just use a small rachet or bar and do them up by feel.

M8 bolts are quite big. They must be going into something soft. Are you gonna use Loctite or similar?

I would follow Pete's advice, use a small rachet and loctite and go by feel.

I probably have the same TW starting at 28 & there's a lot on the Sv requires 23. I just set it to 28 then wind it back 5.
It's been fine for me so far
