Default A very odd request!!! - Read!

Okay, well... I am wanting a skill for skill, or skill for product exchange!

I can SEO websites (get them ranked higher in google - brings more traffic, more sales/punters etc) - Its what I do for a living for corporate clients etc...

I am pretty new to the bike scene, and would be into swapping my skills for either some bike servicing (ONLY people that know what they are doing) - or bits for my SV650 curvy.

Bear in mind I usually charge a fair bit for my services - but not too bothered about that, just thought it would be fun and a good way for us to get things for free! - see my sig. (email link)

Cheers! - hope you guys don't think I am a nutter! - if in doubt, google this: link building packages - this is my main service... 1,950,000 google results, I am at no.1 It does take some time for these results, but I can certainly give a decent boost to your rankings!

Cheers,

Mike

It's amazing how many companies do this. I have a phone call at least once a week at work offering to put our company website in the top front page of Google. It will have to give one day.

Trouble is, If you start having to search through to the second or third page, past all the muppets who have paid to have their site brought to the forefront, Google will lose its integrety.

It all depends on how you get your site ranked really.

We only do things the ethical way, so we first have to make sure the site is decent, and has decent content. Thats a good part of it.

But then there are things that webmasters can do that will unknowingly cause problems when the google spider bot visits their site... so we have to advise on those also.

After this we promote the site on other sites, using social networking sites, and also via google news pieces etc. We do not spam or do dodgy things, LOTS of people do i know. I am a freelancer, and dont work on many sites at once.

I see it as my job to improve the site as a whole, and encourage better content and technical details...

I know what you mean tho... I get emails all the time offering to SEO my site! - Crazy considering the word SEO is in my url... and the sites that offer the service are in India usually! - and they dont have any rankings themselves! - lol!

I don't cold call or send out cold call emails at all... don't need to.

I just thought it would be a fun way to exchange skills on here.

We dont ever promise 1st page rankings, Google is the only one that can decide this... we do promise to strive for this for our clients though, and certainly we guarantee to raise their rankings and be cost effective for them.

Anywayz, enuf blurb! - just wanted to make sure nobody thought I was spamming or anything! - just thought it would be nice to swap skills (who knows, maybe lots of people on here have got skills we can all swap!)

- Tell you what! - anyone got a site they are struggling with and wants me to have a quick look at for free post here. I won't try to sell you anything, I will try to advise how you can improve things for free. Unless you want me to work on promoting your site, in which case lets swap things? - doesn't matter too much what, just nice to exchange skills and stuff!

- First 5 people only tho, as I am busy! (but my SV has a oil leak problem, and a sheared bolt - so can't ride her - so might as well be usefull!

It all depends really.

If you manipulate the google algorithm then yes, the results google gives are crappy and watered down.

If you work with the algo (as best you can - the inner workings are kept secret of course!) - in this way you just end up changing your site so its more usefull, add some promotion in the right places into the cooking pot and all is good.

I would never recommend manipulating the algo anyway, eventually google will get wise to the black hat seo, and tweak its algo to drop the listings. Reading matt cutts blogs etc helps a lot... stay the right side of the ethical seo line and google results are kept accurate and relevant and everyone is happy!

Also, in all honesty google is a multi billion dollar company... who's success depends heavily on bringing relevant results. I wouldn't like to think how aggresive they will be if needed to protect their company. Whats the point in going up against all that! - Nope, working with the rules on SEO is the only sustainable way to get, and keep your site ranked. Unfortunately many companies don't subscribe to this theory!

I am not perfect by any means, but I do my best.
