Default Jambo - Soho's most crashingist member 2008

Well, to be honest last year I wouldn't have bet on me for this title, but I can't think of anyone else that's had 2 "incidents" in 2008.

Got about a mile or 2 from home, going up the outside of a line of a stationary queue of traffic at about 15mph, a red Toyota Hiace van swings right for a side turning. The indicator, if he had turned it on hasn't even warmed the bulb up yet. I was quite supprised to see a red wall where there'd been clear tarmac before, and hit his door and front wing before scrubbing the rest of the speed off by sliding along the ground

I'm fine, a mild headache, but to be honest I've had far worse hangovers
The bloke in the Van was way more shaken up than I was, but was happy to exchange all the appropriate details.

I'd imagine it'll all go through the insurance, which will be a pain. I have a pair of witnesses but they saw me sliding down the road and stopped, rather than seeing the point of impact.

Damage to the bike:
Both fairing panels cracked but serviceable (I'll be doing a bit of plastic welding tomorrow).
Both R&G bungs bent & scuffed
Scuffs on front right indicator & exhaust can.

All in all the bike's rideable, and I'm ok so I'm not too fussed.

Oh no, sorry to hear - take it easy with a headache GWS but watch out for other signs like nausea.

Please please hold out for a 100% his fault claim - good luck.
what sort of distance did you have from the queue of traffic?

and er, yeah, watch out for those side turnings

In all honesty I had decided to cave in and clean it tomorrow.... It had been a year you see, and I thought it would look most hansom in blue & silver.

Need to speak to the insurers today and innocently ask about their policies on claims and write offs. The exhaust flange is scuffed, it'll dremmel out, but it's technically a "replace entire exhaust system + gaskets + labour" job for the purposes of the assessment. Between that and the 2 dead panels @ ?330 a piece and it starts getting dear....I have also heard of some insurers cancelling your policy if you make a claim while it's sorted out. I'm with MCE who are about as cheap & cheerful as it gets. So this could be a headache.... Anyone know about them? can't remember who the hell underwrote it.

And remove your environmentally friendly, all natural, 100% green crash protection?

:P
