Question Light Blue / Silver - 'Girly' Colour?

Been Test riding tonight....my god it was fun!

Test rode an SV650S back to back with a GSX 650f, and im glad to say i prefferred the SV The noise, the looks, the noise, the noise.....

It actually didnt feel as quick as the GSX, but i think that was perhaps perception, cause it doesnt scream as hasd as the GSX?

Anyway, to cut to the chase - i loved the bike, and very close to purchase, but having bought the pics home for the wife to look over....the first thing she said was 'eerrr what a girly colour!!'

So....is my perception and taste that bad? Should i be playing Kylie and mincing to the beat??

its the silver / light (dare i say - baby blue) SV.......

answers on a postcard....

I reckon the colours have slowly got weaker over the years. Is it an '07 model? I test rode one of those (the sport version) before buying an older one second hand. The black '08 model is nice with the dark read seat mind!

A twin always feels slower than an equivalent IL4.

As for the colour. IMO it is a girly colour. But if you liked it, that's all that matters. The Sv is often called a girls bike, but that doesn't put me off either.

Errrr, I should think, having decided to buy a Gurly bike, the colour should be the least of your worries

Mate, it's two colours for the price of one! If you don't like the baby blue...

...walk round it until it turns silver. Presto!

Yeah, i think the later blue went a bit gay. I've got the Grand Candy Blue version and think thats a really nice colour, dont know why they lightened it. saying that though, i dont think the later colour is 'bad' and theres nowt wrong with showing your feminine side!

Know what you mean about the IL4's sounding faster though, as my SV has now turned into my main commuter i ride alongside allsorts of bikes every day. Was with a GSX-R today and we both filtered to the front of the queue and set of at a decent pace, his was like 'Weeeeeeeeeeeeee' and mine was 'bruppp bruppp bruppp' but we both kept pace, his sounded like it was ragging its t1ts off whereas mine sounded like it was barely off tickover, no speed difference and he couldnt have outrun me but his sounded the faster bike. Bizarre.

It would look awful with the silver frame, but with the black frame/wheels and a few of the parts-bin-special SV components lopped off it looks good

IMO the chavtastic SS bikes look ridiculous with their shell-suit designs

Solve all your problems, get a 1999 yellow curvy.

what could be more manly?

(**waits for lozzo to come along and talk about how everything on the SV should be blacker than the colour black**)

I would not worry about it mate.

I have an old K5 in red while filling up at the station this morning I had a prat pull up to fill up his Gixer (08 I think).

Proceded to tell me about how good his bike was compared to my girly SV.

So I showed him the error of his ways on the B645 when the prat could not take a corner properly. Sure he kept giving it throttle but did not know how to use it.

Its not what you ride but how you ride it. I love the SV, its done me proud for a budget bike, I still have no reason to sell it, except the pull of getting a Triumph 675 is still tempting me.

You enjoy it mate

Cheers

Rich
