hi all, just need a little help.
I'm basically new to riding, passed my test about five weeks ago and about 2weeks later bought a k8 sv650(love the red seat in case you ask). I've only did a few hundred miles on it so far but on the longer rides I seem to be getting a pain down the left side of my right calf. Now i first thought it was the way i was positioning my foot on the peg(foot pointing down and slightly to the right) as i rode because the pain soon went away when i'd got off the bike. But last time i was out i started to think the pain was actually a burn. I got off the bike and i felt the frame where my leg rests on the bike and yes it is warm but not that hot so to burn yourself. It sounds stupid but i now can't tell the if its just muscle burn or an actual burn- there isn't a burn mark or anything but its a burning feeling (i did say it it sounds stupid). ANY IDEAS? |

Your not riding with shorts on are you?
(As the frame in warm weather can very VERY hot! But only noticeable if you have anything thinner than jeans on) |

Well , I for one think that it shouldn`t be that hot to burn you but it is possible . I would think that maybe this could be a form of cramp , I used to get something similar a few years ago when on my TZR . I found by eating stuff that had a higher Potassium content would cure it . It almost felt like a massive pair of grips was biting into my calf muscle .

You could try putting your exposed leg against the hot can then you will know for sure what a real burn feels like and thus a good comparison

Stick something up in wanted section, someone will have some spare leathers or something for you. Worth the money.
Frame doesn't get hot enough to actually burn you, especially not when moving.

I could only suggest trying a few different riding positions as it, kind of, sounds like cramp. Then maybe getting the foot pegs re-adjusted if that doesn't work.

I got some rearset adjuster plates from a guy on eBay , made a whole world of differance to my enjoyment of the bike . These were meant to raise the pegs and move them backwards , I flipped them upside down to drop my peg height and move backwards a tad . Worked a treat .
