Default Ear plugs

How many of you wear ear plugs while riding? I tried ear plugs for the first time the other day, and I really really loved it. Alot quieter, I can hear my exhaust note more clearly since the wind noise and engine noise is dampend down, and I can concentrate alot better on my riding.

I'm a bit worried wearing ear plugs alot will give me an ear infection...and im not sure how to clean them, i have foam ones at the moment

Why haven't you used them before?? I never ride without them
If your that worried about ear infection just replace them after each ride. There's no need though

You can't clean them or they will re-expand before you can get them in your ears

I'm just worried about dirt on them and stuff. I did wash a previous set of ear plugs (i have been wearing them at night for a week or so) and that messed them up. quite expensive for 4 little bits of foam but nevermind. I could always get some custom-made silicone type ones made, like what hearing aid moulds are made of?

I really should have used them earlier...highly recommended and well up there with wearing a back protector as another must-have thing to protect you (wind noise can cause loss of hearing. No, scrub that, WILL cause loss of hearing)

Yes wear plugs have done so for a long time.

I use the foam disposable ones. So I through mine away when they start getting dirty looking.

As others have said, buy a big box it'll work out cheaper that way. I'm halfway through a box I bought 3 or so years ago.

Same as the 2 above but i got mine from Screwfix, only cos we were ordering some other stuff from there at work so now i'm never without a spare pair under my seat either.

nothing worse than getting used to wearing them and then loosing 1 and trying to choose which ear to protect, lol. I actually tore it in half and used half in each ear that time then made sure i put a spare set under the seat!

Matt, dont try and clean em mate. Most of the dirt on them comes from your grubby little fingers not your ears so just make sure your hands are clean before the obligatory roll/squeeze. Oh and buy a big box cos its so much better value for money
