Angry Grrrrr Banks!

Right I hate banks at the best of times because they're a bunch of thieving, robbing barstewards

This is what's happened recently. I pay my rent in cash into my landlords bank account. This month I paid the money in using the deposit box thing where you fill in the paying in slip and put it in the envelope. I did this on 12th. Then on 19th my landlord phones me to say the money isn't in his account. I've been to the bank and they say they cant find it. The bank phoned my landlord this afternoon and said that they defintiely don't have the money as their tills were right for that day and that I probably didn't pay it in!

Now I'm pretty pi$$ed that they've lost my money and that they're implying that i'm a liar .

Now is where you clever lot come in. What's going to be my best course of action to sort this?

Didn't you get a receipt printed off from the machine when you paid the deposit in? I always make sure I have just in case something like that happens

Hope they sort it out, blumin' banks

No it's just one of those post box types. The cashiers don't even give you a receipt unless you ask for it. There was a huge queue and I had to get to another job, which is why i used it

Nightsafe or In Bank Deposit box?
Either way the branch has to account for all cash deposited or their people can make off with the readies. So when the box is opened - all the cash amounts are tallied.
Request an interview with the Chief Clerk of the Bank (forget the manager - he's on a sales target) explain the problem. You should get some understanding. Any evidence you can present (cash slip, regular payments you have made in the past) will help.

Failing that, an iron bar, rage and GBH will probably end in a deep sense of satisfaction and a jail sentence = no rent paymets. Result!

I'd go with the CCTV thing, tell them what time you were in there and what you were wearing (make sure you speak to the branch manager as it's a v serious matter) and get them to view the cctv.

Good luck

In bank deposit box which is at the end of the counter.
I'm very tempted by the iron bar option but it's not really the end result that i'm after

Can you ask your landlord for a bank statement to prove he hasn't got it? - I don't suppose the bank can tell you anything directly. Which bank is it?
I'm sorry it's not much help but when I do this to my Natwest bank there is a tear off receipt to the envelope that I keep until i see the money in my account
