Ok I watched 'Commando' last night
![]() For those that either haven't seen it or need refreshing, Arney is basically an x-commando dude living a quiet life with just him and his daughter, the bad guys come along and kidnap his daughter saying they will kill her if Arney doesn't do a job for them ... during the course of this film, I'd say 50-100 henchmen/baddies are shot/killed along the way. Now I know it was a film, but got me thinking ... what price of other human life would you put on saving your kid? (if you don't have kids, then just a close relative or partner). How many people do you think it is acceptable to shoot/kill to ensure your daughters safety/future?? ![]() |

If I had children, I would lay my own life down to save them. As for killing others they would have to be the people responsible for intentionally causing my child's life to be in danger. That being the case I would rack the bodies up. But then I am morally flexible.

no limits to what i'd do to save my kids/ wife/parents-if someone done anything to them, i'm gonna return it ten fold to them and there's.

As many as are stood in your way. It's not about "whats acceptable" it's instinctive behaviour to protect kids, especially your own.

The decision to kill for your kids\love ones is easy……the real question is would you leave the rest of your pint….or even give away the last Rolo…..

Ok, so everyone would kill for their kids. But you are killing someone else's kid in the process ... why is the 'right' or acceptable to you? Why is your kid more important than someone else's?
Especially if we are not talking 1 for 1 ... to rescue your kid 100 people have to die. How can you/we justify that 'loss'? is there a limit to the number that are acceptable ![]() Further to this, if I said to save your kid, you need to kill a completely innocent 3rd party, would you still do it? Would it matter who they were? If it were say the next Einstein, or the person that would actually go on to cure cancer. Is your kid still more 'valuable' than them??? ![]() Last edited by Blue_SV650S; 18-05-08 at 03:57 PM. |

That's a fairly impossible choice there, and I can't think of a way that that would come about!

![]() Obviously with humans, emotional attachment plays a far bigger part, for most parents just the mere thought of their kid being harmed would make their blood boil. Which is what sets us apart from animals. It doesn't matter who people are, benefits to society or not, in the heat of the moment I wouldn't think that would be the first thing on your mind!
