Has anyone got any experience with Evotech crash bobbins. Looking for crash protection for my k8 pointy and looking at previous threads the motosliders that are most popular require the fairing to be cut. The other alternative would be R & G however they have got mixed reviews to. Cant seem to find much talk regarding the evotech. Is there a reason foir this.

i think on R+G they're good for slow speed drops but it depends what people expect from them. Remember they aren't there to save the bike at high speed crashes they're there to protect more from low speed slides. People expect to pay £50 to have an indestructable bike. Both my R+G's have been used at 10mph slides and both have done their job.

Took this from the Evotech website...
Manufactured on site, using high quality Acetal and CNC machined Billet Aluminium. The main brackets are available in either black or silver anodised finishes to suit your frame. Supplied with all fittings and instructions, can be fitted in minutes and could save you a fortune in the event of a minor spill .The main mounting brackets are designd to give maximum support and protection to your frame. If you have the fully faired option you will need to modify the fairing lowers. Personally the Motosliders are the best, but if you don't want to modify the fairing then unfortunately the R&G's are the ones to get. Quote:

My bad should have read the full description. Looks like its gonna be the R&G's then. When they say modify is it just a case of making the hole bigger where the bolt for the existing suzuki protectors goes through the fairing.

Usually that is the case or you have to drill a hole big enough for the bung to slide through, best thing to do is ask them!

I aksed for them to be fitted on my bike when i bought it - two options...
Modify the fairings - i.e cut a dirty great big hole, and mount to the frame. Mount on the fairing brackets (which i believe is the R&G Design). I didnt like this idea - those brackets would take any weight whatsoever if you were to drop the bike, you may end up doing even more damage. They basically said no to me, and i didnt argue cause i see their point. |

A fair few people on here will testify to the effectiveness of the NEWER R&G crash bungs / frame sliders (however you refer to them). I had them fitted to the bike from new and the brackets on them are solid, chunky affairs. This is the thing that was changed from the old design from my understanding. There is NO cutting or modification to the lowers required.
My only further comment is to AVOID the OEM SUZUKI ones since the brackets for those really are hopeless - I've seen both since the dealer mistakenly fitted Suzuki bungs to mine before I pointed out on the order that they were spec'd as "R&G" quite deliberately. Cheers, Garry ![]() |
