Default Peg jack up plates - extra ground clearance?

I purchased some Valter Moto peg jack up plates (as they were a lot cheaper than rearsets).

Now the main reason for getting these was for trackdays, I find clearance on the SV limiting, I've been peg and knee down at the same time and it's a bit disconcerting, so figure an extra bit of clearance wouldn't go a miss.

On trial fitting I noticed the peg was moved back approx 2-3 cms, which would have negligible effect on ground clearance. It was also moved up about 1 cm, extra ground clearance, and out about 1 cm due to the thickness of the plate, reducing the lean angle. Simple maths tells me that if the lean angle is 45degress there is no net gain in ground clearance, so is there any point in fitting these to my SV for their original purpose, or am I missing something?

Not quite peg dragging, but I find it does happen:

if you same you have measured and the jack up plates dont seem 2 lift the pegs/hangers up any then flog them on or send them back.

but i really cant see them selling them if thers gona be no difference in the height of the pegs!

Got them on Phoenix, your right, they certainly don't help much ground clearance is still a problem!!!

I think you have forgotten to take in to account that if the nose is lower than the tail, then the plane the jackup plates are moving the pegs in is not horizontal, so it will give you more clearance than you initially calculated.

That thought had crossed my mind, although with the rake of my bike there's not a lot in it. Looking at some other pics of me on track I think that the biggest bonus could be moving my foot further back, as I always suffer from elbow/knee interface with my outside arm/leg when on track as can be seen below:

Or perhaps I should just buy a more spacious bike for the track...

Hi,

Sorry to hijack thread, are there any other stock rearsets like GSXR/SRAD/TL that bolt straight on but give better clearance?

I'm toying with the idea of making some jackup plates myself (easy enough), the only thing is that they are going to have to be from steel as thats all I can weld and fabricate.

As for proper rearsets, well I just can't afford them.

Cheers

GSXR rear sets fit straight on 2 the sv i have a set on my 04 pointy at the min bolted straight on.

and you can pick a used set of gsxr race rear sets up for little money as ther way easyer 2 get than sv ones.

you need 55mm i think it is centre 2 centre so if you see a set of gsxr ones for sale just ask wot the eye 2 eye bolt hole size roughly is if its like 54-56mm then they will fit.

Yep,

no peg jack up plates or rear suspension jack up plates on in those photos.

My SV shakes its head a bit on the bumpy Yorkshire roads (with a Hagon rear and stiffer front) so I'm a little loathe to put on rear suspension jack up kit in case it makes it more prevalent.

It looks as if you could - almost - swap left for right if the bolts that go through are the same & the gearchange & brake pedals were compatible.
The you would only have to sort out somewhere to put the brake cylinder & heel plates.
If you haven't guessed by now I am no engineer!!

They are designed and advertised to add comfort not clearance, for better clearance you will either need shorter dog bones (or adjustable length shock) or proper rearsets as previously mentioned!
