FIRST BIKE ON SCENE (FBoS)
![]() First Bike on Scene (FBoS) is the first nationally available course to offer essential life saving skills to motorcyclists. The ?First Bike on Scene? course has been specifically designed to provide the knowledge and skills needed to deal with the initial management of a patient involved in a road traffic accident. Bikers will be encouraged to give casualties necessary basic life support in the event of an accident whilst waiting for emergency services to arrive. The course is recommended for anyone who rides a motorcycle, or wishes to administer first aid or manage the initial scene of a road traffic incident. FBoS is approved by The Faculty of PreHospital Care of The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and is approved by the Motorcycle Industry Association. Sign up if you are interested |

I know that the course may seem a bit expensive but most of the 60 Bikers that went on the 2 courses from last year have used their skills.
Do you know what to do if one of your mates has an off on a ride out? Do you know what to do if you come across an accident? Do you know how to assess if a helmet should be taken off an injured rider? I hope you never need to use the skills that get taught on the course but things do happen. Course content How to protect a scene Emergency rescue / grab Safe airway positioning External bleeding, internal bleeding & Shock Resucitation procedures and choaking Spinal management Helmet removal, when to and how to You will come away from the course with a certificate having met some other bikers and learned something that might help to preserve life of someone who the Ambulance crew can rescue |

![]() I only organise one or 2 per year but the ambulance service will come and do the training if you book them... however you will then need to find the location and the attendees to make the course viable. I've organized this course as I have a number of Unity Support Riders that need to do the training before they can take part in the Marshalling training scheme that I am setting up. (Basically the police need support to allow big rideouts to continue to happen safely and with out proper training the volunteer marshals need to know how to deal with the worst case scenario). With out the police attending, Unity Ride would not be allowed to go ahead as the new antisocial laws that are in place means that any unofficial gathering of more than 5 motor vehicles can be disbanded... so that kinda makes it difficult to do charity ride outs without the organisers receiving fines of up to £10K. So the best way to ensure everyone has a fun day out is to set up a training scheme. ...... I got into a bit of a pickle last year with Greenwich Council after I was donated a huge area in which to hold a motorbike fete and the council blocked it every which way they could and threatened to fine me if I did the ride….. but anyways... I digress. The point is ensuring the safety of people that you ride with and there are very few opportunities to do FboS as its only Lancashire and Berkshire ambulance that teach the course. |
