Default another gear shift lever

I am after a gear shift lever, new/used for an 06 SV. I'm also after a clutch lever, blade only after a stupid stand incident.

Cheers

I had to do this about a month ago - it's quite easy to pull the assembly apart. The gear lever connects to the spline (engine side of the gear changing bits) via a horizontal thin rod with 2 bolts at each end. Unscrew the bolt at the gear changer end. 2 x hex bolts hold the complete footpeg hanger onto the bike. Undo these and the unit will come off & makes it much easier to work on.

The gear lever is fixed to the 'hanger' unit with a bolt through the lot of it and a 'circlip', a bit like a washer but it isn't a complete circle. I'm sure suzuki have a wonderful tool for removing this but for me it was the hardest part. Had to use 2 flathead screwdrivers (and thin heads at that) to prize the circlip apart. Took me about 20 mins and i nearly lost 2 fingers in the process. Once the circlip popped out the gear lever will be loose and come away from the hanger. Fit your new/spare replacement rod as neccessary, reinsert the bolt through the lever and hanger unit, then put the circlip back in (I used pliers to straighten it out a bit). after the circlip is back in, it's just a case of fixing the hanger back onto the bike and reconnecting the rod to the gear lever.

The rod can be screwed back into the lever at varying depths and allows you to adjust the resting height/position of the gear lever, once you're happy with the positioning of the gear level make sure you fully tighten & check the bolts at each end of the rod. I didn't tighten mine fully and half way across the pennines I felt my gear lever 'disappear' - it didn't drop of, it just disconnected from the rod and left me unable to change gear. Found somewhere safe to stop and reconnected it as tight as i could without any tools - came undone twice more on the way home nipped it tight at home and haven't had a problem since.

Hope my ramblings make sense! pt6

guys,
there is a way to drill through the lever and stick a nut and bolt on...
I saw this on this forum some where how to but its really easy to do,
just replace with nut and bolt with rubber sleve...
e mail me if you cant find it..
i put a nut and bolt @3 months ago....no need to relace with origional one.

For 49p I have bought the following (apart from the rubber bit, which came free with the bike)

If anyone wants to try this in future, the bolt is 50mm long, and the size of everything (washers and all) is M8, which is a snug fit for the rubbery bit.

I've noticed though, that I'll need to be careful with the tightening, as the rubber squashes easily, which will make it wear faster I think. As soon as the thread comes out of the last bolt, I need to stop and leave it to dry.
