Default It's finally working again..Yay!

Finally, after a mere 9 weeks off the road, I've got the bike going again.

For those unaware of my mechanical incompetance (and what an achievement this is for me) I'll give you a little taster of how I got to the end:

1. Keep trying to start the bike until the battery goes flat.
2. Try again the next day (just in case).
3. Realise I don't have a battery charger.
4. Three weeks pass.
5. Realise that I sell battery chargers
6. Summon up courage to remove battery
7. Cannot get terminal bolts undone
8. Get terminal bolts undone, and lose one of them
9. Charge up battery, ask nicely at Slocombes for some terminal bolts
10. Put battery back on, still won't start.
11. Bump into Bear, Rictus and Soulkiss in the Ace and get some sound advice.
12. Another week passes
13. Raise tank, try to work out where the prong thingy goes, try to locate spark plug (yes, I really am that bad)
14. Give up.
15. Purchase new spark plugs

And today, I finally manged the final step. After getting over the nervousness of just how much force I should use in trying to remove the HT lead, I finally get the damn bugger out, and the new plug in.

I considered changing the front one...then thought I shouldn't get ideas above my station

Anyway, I screwed everything back together, and the bike started

So, am now off to give it a little run, and treat it to some nice fresh fuel. I guess this means I'll be in Soho on Friday

Jo
P.s. Big thanks to all those who offered advice and help.

Just been out for a pootle, and it's nice to be back on the bike.

Funny you should mention a gearbox rebuild Mark, it's very clunky and I still can't get neutral once the bike is at full temperature....but then thaat maybe because Ian told me almost a year ago that my clutch needs adjusting

Ah well....one step at a time...I may even wash the bike next week

As a public disclaimer I'd like to point out that any good advice didn't come from either myself or Soulkiss...

No problem Jo, talk to me Friday, I'll bring tools we can do it there.

Cheers Mark.
