Take your v5 and your insurance certificate just in case, also your Healthcard thingy.

I ride in the republic a few times each year but have been lucky enough never to have been pulled.

Try and catch the attention of Fizz as he and his young lady enjoyed a holiday over there a short time ago.

Over all you should be ok, brings the docs mentioned above, maybe your insurance cert also, the gards are doing a bit of a crack down here on a few bits, but you shouldn't have any problems.

Also enjoy skerries !! i'll be at a stag

Don't expect to cover many miles in a day some of the roads can be quite hard going, but it's worth it.

If you have a pointy, rememeber you can change your speedo to KPH so work out how to do it in advance.

The other thing I found is what Liz has said above dont expect to cover many miles in a day as some of the road surfaces are poor. Also watch out for cars etc as they are'nt used to bikes and you may find as I did they'll pull out in front of you alot more randomly than they do in this country.

Spare ignition key and spare alarm keyfob is also useful. Also take an old towel or something to put over you seat to protect it from the straps they use to tie your bike down on the ferry. I bungied my side stand as well so it did flick up if the crossing was rough.

Yes that should do, they prob wont bother you at all, but just in case it will save you ar$eache

And as for covering many miles, get out of here, you'll easily do 150 miles in a day at a leisuirly pace

You won't have much choice but to do a leisurely pace in many places, anfd yeah i agree 150 miles is easily doable but i don't consider that to be many miles if i'm on a touring holiday.

Hiya Dan,

If you want some info on decent roads to ride whilst your over here let me know...should be able to work out some decent routes with nice places to see and stay at each end..

Skerries is a great weekend - met a chap recently in the IOM who said it was his favourite race event - and he lives in road racings Mecca!!

I would probably bring originals of your documents. Chances of being stopped are pretty slim TBH, but its best to have originals all the same. There's no issue with loud cans over here and tinted visors are ok as well.

One thing to watch for is the atrocious driving. Cagers here are even less aware than in the UK.

Oh, yeah - and bring yer wet gear
