How to tell my Laptop to prefer LAN over Wireless....
Sometimes I use the wireless connection on my laptop. But when I'm gaming I plug in the LAN cable for a faster connection. But how does it know which connection to use?
Does it automatically go for the fastest, or is there a way to set it up so that it prefers the LAN connection? I'm running Vista Home Premium. Any help appreciated

Doesnt your laptop have an "off" switch for the wireless connection?
Mine does which means I can turn it off when required and just plug the cable in and use the internet hardwired. Maria |

In Control Panel > Network Connections, disable the Wireless network and it will automatically connect using the LAN.
When you want wireless back, just re-enable!

goto Network Connections
On Menu Bar of Network Connections, Advanced -> Advanced Settings, you can set priority of connections

It had the wireless as the main connection and the LAN as the secondary. Sorted now
