Default Changes between pointy years?

Hi Guys,

I'm interested in buy a 650 Pointy, but haven't got a massive amount of cash to spend, so I'm looking at an early model, K3 or K4.

How dofferent are the latest models? I know there have been cosmetic changes; colours, frame colours, tank logos etc...

Have there been any major changes since the K3 was launched?

Also, any warranty recalls I should keep an eye out for?

Thanks

Monkey

If I recall correctly, the K3 has a slightly higher rear subframe and seat, but no major changes.

No recalls for the pointy (and there was only one for the curvy).

the k3 was the first, the base for the pointy, i rate it highly with its silver frame and swing arm, propa SUZUKI decals on the tank, raised seat, tool kit where it should be (under the seat) and some of the best colours suzuki have done in the sv series.

I have a K3 which is great but it is annoying that there are a surprising number of differences with other pointy parts. Snow shovel is different, seat, tank, footpeg holder etc all ever so slightly different.

Nothing that matters.

The K3, as has been stated, has a slightly higher seat than the subsequent bikes, unless this is a problem for you height-wise a K3 is as good a buy as a later bike, the fact that some bits don't fit is an irrelevance, all of the bits you'll likely want are available for the K3 too.

Unless the seat height is an important factor for you, (and it's not as though they're high, just the later bikes are lower), include the K3 in your search for a bike, personally I'd buy the best bike I could find for the money I have, and I wouldn't fuss about which year it is.

It's not an irrelevance, I have had loads of hassle finding that a second-hand K4 snow shovel doesn't fit properly, that the holes for indicators are slightly different so you can't swap them without them being wobbly, finding a replacement tank that will fit, finding gel seats for sale solely for K4-K7 years.

I'd still do this though.

OK, I take it back.

EDIT: If you're planning on chucking it away and thus will need endless amount of S/H bits, the K3 is a bit different, sometimes.

So that'll be an irrelevance then.
