You could have one in 8-10 weeks. Cost depends on what you want to be able to do mind.
We have a virtualisation lab downstairs (I'm in work), and that has a TV in it. Good enough for me, and awesome to play with (the lab, not the TV). Don't get me wrong, it's not quite up to the level of "holodecks" or whatever they are in Star Trek, but dagnamit, it's not far off. |

Trimersion hooks up directly to our standard XBox360, PS3 or PC/Mac by USB. The P5 glove only works with the PC or Mac. The Trimersion headset offers better rendering quality than the projection cameras do. Trimersion is yours for a mere $500 USD, and the P5 glove is approx $100 USD. EDIT: You've obviously been waiting so long that you've missed the news releases. ![]() |

There aint nothing nerdy about 2 people in a soft walled VR lab, with headsets on having a good ol' fashioned sword fight.
![]() EDIT: Our 3D cinema is quite funky too. Noth the crap kind that you need to wear glasses for either, and all in 1080i. ![]() |

I finish my shift at 3pm, employees are allowed free reign on the hardware - so long as no-one else gets there first.
Usually when we have a new release going out the door, both the VR lab & cinema are pretty booked up. But after a couple of weeks most folks get bored of the novelty. I still find it amusing choosing films to watch using the "wand" (read: P5 glove) - simple wave of the hand to scroll, clench fist to select. ![]() I think security may lock the doors though if they see me coming up the stairs carring the VR gear. ![]() EDIT: The 3D cinema is basically a huge ball shaped HD TV. You open the door, and sit inside it (it's large enough to happily accomodate 30 people). The computer on the outside translates the specially encoded video so that it renders the right part in the right place. Heypresto, 3D 1080i. Massively expensive way to do it, but this company have outrageous profit margins. Last edited by Baph; 02-07-08 at 01:41 PM. |
