The Number Of The Beast (or why I wasn't at AR08)
THE IRON MAIDEN!
And yes, it was awesome. Kicking off (after UFO's Doctor Doctor) with Churchill's Speech and a video of Bruce piloting their 'tour bus,' the legends of metal themselves started their rousing set with Aces High. Every song played was pre-1992 so it was a greatest hits show of sorts. The pyrotechnics were superb as were the numerous stage sets (including mummy-Eddie) and if it could move, it did! Tens of thousands of metal fans made the pilgrimage to Twickers and it seemed that many more could only dream. The highs: The whole of Maiden's set The venue (Twickenham Stadium) The catering Within Temptation The Rugby Store The lows: Avenged Sevenfold Lauren Harris The car parks post-show Trying to find 2 mates in a crowd of 50,000 Overall verdict: AWESOME! |
