Default Weighing in scrap metal

I saw a comment a while back about wheels etc having a small scrap value... Anyone done this themselves? I've got probably about 30 kilos of aluminium scrap out the back, bent bits and aborted experiments and suchlike, worth the effort to haul it to a scrappie?

From what I heard on the radio yesterday, the price of scrap metal is rocketing. Aluminium is one of the metals affected, to the point where beer kegs are being stolen for scrap, a keg now being worth around £50 (not sure if that is the scrap value though). So it's definitely worth finding out the price IMO.

Asked my bro, they got rid of loads of stuff from his work recently (don't know which metal but all should have been car related) and made a few hundred quid each.

Will let you know

Copper & brass are netting around £2000 per tonne atm.
Steel is doing quite well, but I dont know with Alloy.

If they offer you a suspiciously high amount of money, make sure they realise you don't want the bike scrapped as well
