Default What to look for?

I know there's already a similar thread posted but here goes anyway.

I'm off to look at a couple of SVs tomorrow, any tips on what I should look out for?
There's a 2000 SY and a 2001 SK1.

Any help or advice would be VERY appreciated.

In Fort William. The bikes are in Glasgow.

Sorry about the delay, was out on the bike.

I've got an SV as a courtesy bike but it's injection and the ones I'm going to see are carb'd. Any major differance in ride?

Nah very similar, slighty different throttle response if you're looking for it, the curvies have a tiny bit more grunt lower down.

Not really, just the actual riding position is different, I prefer the pointy to ride as I find the riding position suits me better. Also it seems to rev a little more and a little more willing than a curvey.

Curvies

Look for

Dodgy wiring, chaffe points on the wiring loom

Stuck, seized brakes, the pins stick in the brakes especially if ridden through a winter. Also look for spongey or lack of feel from the brake lever

Both pointy and curvey are prone for water in the front spark plug, its easy to sort, ask the owner if they have had trouble with it.

Can be a bit harsh on chains, gearbox is sensitive to chain tension and oil level, can lead to a notchy gear change.

Just look for general wear and tear otherwise
