desktop and laptop both on wireless...laptop built in desk via a belkin adaptor usb-
both connect to the wireless fine and are conected... however, laptop will pull up the yahoo homepage and I can browse etc etc .. the desktop will not connect to internet - it says connection has timed out.. i have had this b4 but it does connect eventually-this time it wont both are through same wireless modem- hadno probs before. doin me box in cos the desktop is quicker and easier.. any thoughts you saddos..?. oh I mean you very helpful intelligent folk.. xxx |

Are you sure they are connected wirelessly properly? Timing out means there is an issue somehwee connection wise

On your desktop go into
on Internet Explorer, Tools, then internet options, click connection, then LAN settings and then make sure that the "automatically detect settings" check box is ticked. Try that first see what that does or what that is set to.

What type of wireless modem is it? What OSes are you using? Can the two computers see each other on the network (assuming the modem also acts as a router, which some do)? You say that before it worked intermittently - has anything changed recently?

dint work fizz.
its a speedtouch B5A109... WPA coded.. like I say all worked fine nowt new done to anything.. and both pc's worked fine at same time before for 6 months |
