Hi all,
I have recently passed my theory test and am trying to get a direct access course in swindon/wiltshire and everyone is booked until sep. I've got a naked 650Y sat in my garage just begging to be taken out for a caning before the weather turns cr*p and its doing my head in.does anyone know of an instructor/school in the swindon or wiltshire area.cheers ![]() |

hi mate, I was pretty much in the same boat as you. I booked my DAS in June to be done a week ago, and I was told if I failed I probably wouldn't get a retest with this guy until the new tests came in. Thank God I passed!
The general test availability at the moment is due to the tests changing in October (which I'm sure you know) and isn't helped by the time of year. I'd ring around anybody you can find, try looking on the DSA website. |

I really don't fancy doing that new test cos it sounds like a b*tch! i'm going to have to get a move on tho before our short lived british summer dissapears and it starts getting all miserable

Very frustrating mate. IIRC, i had to wait a month to get my lessons / test booked up when I did it a few years ago. If you are really set on doing it it might be worth ringing around a bit further afield - if you do a 3/4 day course and test package you could stay over somewhere.
Incidentally I did my test in november (test in poyuring rain) and still managed to use my bike loads over winter - yes its cold but you'll still love it. Hope you managed to get it sorted before we run out of good weather mind! |

Could try some other area's al together, stay in a hotel while you do your trianing. Sure, thats expensive...but I gather the new test thats to come in will be expensive anyway, and you'll need extra training, so it might end up costing the same, and you get to sit the current simpler test

when did it get good?? i must of blinked and missed it!!!... on a more helpful note have you tried looking further afield....maybe bristol? not too far from swindon and quite a few training schools here done mine with http://www.kickstart-mct.com/index.html they do monday to friday and weekends.....I was determined not too pay a fortune as I knew i could ride a bike safely and after a bit of assesment of me in their carpark I persauded them to let me do a 1 day DAZ...started with them out riding at 9am and had my test at 3.30pm and passed...for £200 including the £60 test fee, Id recommend them. I really wouldn’t worry about the new test its really not that bad, it just involves doing the manoeuvres you would do on the road, in a controlled environment so that.....
A) the environment is the same for all candidates. B) if you drop your bike doing U Turns/Emergency stop, help is at hand other than JUST the examiner who in most cases wont help you when out on the road anyway for H&S reasons. C) So the time on the road is actually spent observing riding.
