Default Oil level

Hi folks
Just done oil filter change on me k3 pointy
am i right in thinking the oil level should be checked on the side stand

Sorry, couldn't resist.

You're right, bike being level will give you a true reading. Bike on the side stand will mean that it'll show as being lower than it actually is.

yes the bike is ment 2 be lever when checking the level of the oil.

You need to hold the bike upright and on the level, as Baph says if you check the oil on the sidestand it'll show a lower level and you'll end up over filling it.

you'll need to drain some out then.. in which case it's often easier to unscrew the oil filter a little than fight with the drain plug.

thers a we bolt on the engine you can take out 2 drain a we bit out it comes out really slow so if you need 2 get a load out then do it another way.

When I got my oil change all wrong I found a large syringe and some plastic tube was by far the easiest way of draining the excess off.

Bike to be level, and not on a paddock stand either! It will under read terribly when measured on the side stand!

You will need to take some out, both the syringe and oil filter ideas above are good. Personally I opt for the oil filter as you need no more equipment and it is quicker.
