Default Cisco Content Selector Switch 11500

Does anyone know what console cable is required for one of these devices or indeed how to get into it and reset the password and config?

The management port appears to be a 10-base-T port.....

Any help appreciated.

You need a blue Cisco Roll-over cable, which while it uses an RJ-45 connector, has a couple of the wires crossed.

You can do password recovery once you have that cable - you will also need a PC/Laptop with a serial port, by following these instructions.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/...80110d14.shtml

I have got a spare Console Cable sitting here you can have if you want it, and if you are near Liverpool St/Finsbury Square you can come pick it up.

PM me.

So just how does someone who knows as little as you about Cisco kit come to have their hands on about 8 Grands worth of CSS ???

Yes I confess I am not really a cisco man - did do my CCNA years ago, but never used it and as a result have lost it....I am much better on Procurve (yeah right).

Actually just want to reset it and get shot of it.

I tried that already which is why I posted on here as I know there are some experts. I wondered if perhaps I was doing something wrong?

Well I am guessing that if you have tried the reset then you can get onto it.

No real experience on those - I havent done Cisco for years myself and thats a pretty specialised piece of kit

hehehehe

I saw the title of the thread, and I thought, do I really want to click on it? Then my colleague suggested that maybe it was a photo of a Cisco Content Selector Switch 11500 nestled between two enourmous breasts. So I clicked on the thread. I am disappointed.

SoulKiss - I was pinning my hopes on you then too - I have got a flat cisco console cable, but I think the pin-outs are different in the rollover cable aren't they? Could just be a dodgy cable or someone who hasn't done much technical for a few years trying and failing..........
