Normally I get the poo. The too hard for the help desk, we don't know anything about this etc.
Today my director comes out with. Tim, I think you may be able to help us with a problem. Oh here comes more poo. Just been given another coding project, staff of none as usual. So project manager, becomes system architect, data analyst, programmer as well. So just off to find where I buried my LDAP books and development kits when we sacked our programmers as it is not core business. So no surfing for me for a while. A real job for a change

Just set up a VERY simple LDAP based Single Signon Solution here at work (includes using RADIUS for the Cisco kit)
Give me a yell if you want to sanity check anything Although I must stress, while I looked into LDAP with a bit of depth, the final solution IS very simple.

I wrote our co's SSO solution. All done as web services with an LDAP behind it etc. However getting 3rd parties to work with it was near on impossible. Where we had custom apps done. they would and 2 swiss companies took on board my concept.
However, other big companies would say, we already have SSO. But referred to their own SSO, unique to their applications etc. So not ideal and getting software specifiers to require compliance with our authentication methods usually meant additional cost they were not prepared to accept. So SSO remains a pipe dream. This application is really about how they manage their remote access. So there is a radius server authenticating requests against an LDAP. But the LDAP content is a mistery to the company (No management. No ownership for the past few years) so I am having to build a reporting tier for them. Sometimes I think the only reason they keep me on the books, is that I have certain skills that we don't need/use but occasionally they discover they need a Java programmer, or a C programmer, last week it was Fortran on a VAX. Strange how my name seems to then get called to mind, when these requirements hit
