Idle Banter For non SV and non bike related chat (and the odd bit of humour - but if any post isn't suitable it'll get deleted real quick).![]() |

Just a little tale of my trip out yesterday, no shock/horror, just a ride out..............
Took the SV out, fuel on empty so filled up. Took a potter round by Edge Hill, between Banbury and Warwick. Heading up the main road there's a black bike, turned out to be a Ninja, stopped at the side of the road with 2 souls looking glum. A chap and his girlfriend, mid twenties. As it happens the road is a clearway, no stopping, but they are just 20m past a nice tarmaced field entrance, so I pulled in there. They've just run out of fuel, and wheel the Ninja back to the gateway. They are only 1/2 mile from a filling station, a bit far to push and not a nice road to be pushing a bike anyway, uphill a bit. Trying to think of how to get fuel from the SV into the Ninja, I spot an empty McD drinks cup complete with lid and 2 straws in the grass verge. Since I'd just filled up the fuel was only an inch or so down. I was thinking of taking off fuel pipes, but this is a hassle. Girlfriend suggests dipping straws into the fuel and putting finger over the end, and lifting fuel out and into the paper cup. It works, slow but sure. While girlfriend lifts the fuel, we chat away. A rough guess was they needed about 50ml of fuel to get to the petrol station. She passes the cup to boyfriend, into the Ninja, a few whirrs and away it goes. Off they go, and after togging up again I go past the station and they are filling up. Nice day. ![]()
