don't just buy any old dog bones, that may appear like a bargain. Only buy form someone reputable. It has been known for cheap n shoddy to fail...even if they look good quality for the money

My black SV came with a jack up kit on it, dogbones or whatever you wnat to call it. It also has an extremely hi level can on it. I took the jack up kit off and shoved the standard dogbones back in, as although i could get my feet on the floor, it wasn't as comfy as the standard height of my other SV. Didn't make a difference to the can or pipe

I think you want to look at if you want to jack up the rear or not, it can make a big diffrence to the handeling.

Also you need to be very sure if the dimentions are of the dogbones themselves or the distance the bike is jacked up, any dimentions on the dogbones are magnified significantly at the saddle. If you are happy with your rear ride height I wouldn't bother changing them.

Definatley dont go for cheap ones, there have been several cases of e-bay ones failing. I got some from maxton which were probaly overpriced but well made, IMO its worth the piece of mind.

Who or what is Maxton? I have tried to find them using Google but without luck.

The maxton ones are very sexy, but silly money. I think mine are JHS. Whether it's worth the money or not just depends on what you want, I like a very fast steering bike to compensate for my inability to choose the right line in any given corner so I've got the tail high, but I couldn't honestly say it's "better", the SV is a fairly sweet turning bike as standard.

They might well be but I can only see them when I'm lying on the floor. Now that could be sexy but that's another story lol.

Buying from JHS or maxton or someone like that you can be reasonably assured that you're getting something made of the right metal, cheese-bones will hurt you as lozzo found out on a bandit.
