Default Help with gloves please

i know this should be in gloves section, but i'm really hoping that someone here is going to be able to help me and thought it might get unoticed in the 'gloves section'.

so...................

i need some new summer gloves. my beloved wolf pair have pretty much had it after a year and 3 quarters worth of use and a track day lowside. i have been desperately trying to find somewhere that sells wolf gear in and around the watford area. i've found one place in ruislip mannor, but they only had one model. which wasn't comfortable, very expensive and the staff didn't seem to notice i was even present (they had other makes, but nothing of quality).

so i don'tknow where else to go but my most hated bike shop J&S (who are utterly carp!!). again ignored until i stray close to the most expensive pair of alpinestars on the shelf, when all of a sudden i have a new best friend salesman. in the end i leave fairly happy with a pair of berick gloves that fitted nicely, were comfortable and had good protection. cost me £70. exactly a week later i take them back because they've started to wear out already (the wolf one's i've got have only just started this despite all their abuse)!!

so what do you people like as a glove and where on earth should i go for them? i don't know of anywhere else close to me with a decent range of stuff. i'd love to buy wolf again as i have a jacket from them and i've loved these gloves. my budget is probably about £70, but i can go higher if it seems worth it. the gloves must have knuckle and finger protection ie. solid kevlar stuff and preferably be black.

not too demanding?!

thanks oh mighty .org

Go online? Get a few pairs and send back the ones you don't want for a refund.

Over your budget, but I have a two year old pair of Alpinestars GP Pro gloves. They were IIRC around the £120 mark.

They are really comfy, supple and soft. They have all the features your after. They've changed the design now so the new ones are a little different with a hard plastic cuff / wrist guard.

I'd definately recommend you at least try a pair on and see how they feel. But be careful as the sizing is funny.

Is there not a Hein Gerricke or an Infinity near you they normally have a huge range of gloves.

No I'm just a label tart

Dunno I couldnt really justify them at the time but I needed new ones and I tried these on and also a few other pairs and I kept going back to them as they felt the most comfortable. I guess to me they are abit like your wolf gloves and I'll be gutted when its time to replace them...

Liz was trying on gloves a while ago and she found I think they were some dainese ones that she liked and said were comfortable that were a bit more towards your price range and also she was trying on Arlen Ness ones as well. So maybe have a look at those ?

I think they only thing you can do is go to a different shop and just keep trying on pairs till you find ones that you like. I'm like you I like to try things like this on and I dont like buying them online.

Got a pair of Alpinestar SP1s and loving them, very secure wrist closure, lovely once broken in cost me around 70-80 notes IIRC

HG also do a nice glove, their pro sport or something, very similar to the SP1, but with a Kangaroo palm, my mate has really liked these too. So a couple of suggestions for you to try.

Try a pair of Triumph hard carbon gloves. I tried on pretty much all the gloves mentioned above before i got mine - and i can't fault em. Always score well in ride tests too.

haha, i seem to find the opposite!! my hands aren't that wide but i have long fingers. meaning large are usually a touch short in the finger and perfect in the hand, but XL are perfect in the finger, but waaaay to baggy on the hand!!

thanks for the suggestions. anyone got any ideas of any decent shops my way? i've tried searching tinterweb, but i'm not coming up with anything much good
