Okay so tonight is the first night my bike is spending outside.
Been keeping it at my works warehouse for a little over a week but I cant do it forever so now im starting to keep it at home.

I live in a block of flats, quite a nice area but across the river is a slightly dodgy council estate and the chav population like to roam so I needed some good security so here it is:

Oxford Monster (i think) Disc Lock - Front wheel positioned close to caliper to limit forward movement
Medium Duty Bicycle Lock - Rear wheel thread thru the wheel above the swing arms
Almax Immobiliser III - Front Wheel Chained to a lamp post.
Misc Waterproof Cover
Steering Lock

Due to the investment into the Almax chain I hope that there is very little chance anyone is going to be taking the bike anywhere.

Anyone got any advice on how to further secure my bike or any alterations they would make to how I have secured my bike? Is the front wheel the one to have the Almax on for example?

If you can put the chain through the frame and then round the lamp post. A determined theif is just going to take the front wheel out of the bike with the chain through the wheel.

Unfortunately i cant due to the 16mm Almax chain I cannot pass it thru anywhere

Its a faired curvy by the way. I tried to get it thru the frame at the side but no chance.
The only other place a could see was on the forks near the yoke but even then only a small easily cropped chain would fit round there.

They're supposed to work quite well. Unfortunately buying the biggest most expensive chain isn't going to help a determined thief, simply deter an opportunist thief. A decent bolt cutter will have any chain off in a minute or two. Failing that, buy a big dog and tie him to the bike!

put it through the rear. More of an effort to get off IMO. Sounds about right though

I could get my big chain through the V of the engine block on my curvy. Was a tight squeeze and needed to wait for the engine to cool, but got there. Not sure of chain link diameter, but it is not far off 16 mm IIRC

You could use an anti-pinch pin through your frame to secure the frame to the lampost with your Almax chain. Failing that, I think putting the chain through the rear wheel would be better. It'd still be easier to remove the wheel than cut the chain though.

I've just got one of those pins myself and putting it through the hole in the frame below the tank on my K8 sport. It does sit partly on a pipe which I think is the coolant going into the rear cylinder (?) which is maybe a bit dodgy.

A determined professional thief will always walk away with your bike.

You've got to get that almax through the frame somehow. 2 spanners and 1 minute to have the front wheel out!
