Default Job Interviews

Just wandering about interview etiquette, going for some interviews (second) and wandering if I should enquire about the prospectus companies family friedly policy, i.e I'd like to start early and leave early but obviuouly doing the same if not more hours. Than being said don't want to lose the work if I come over to pushey or family comes first inpression.

Any help / advse woudl be appreciated.

What are the hours specified?

Do they not suit you?

Many companies are very amenable to such request, but personally I would be a little wary if asked in an interview.

Just ask about the scheme. as for familes come 1st of course they do, the god damn company does not own you!

When i interview pople, i want them to ask me anything without worrying. This trend about not asking how much its paying is poor. I mean, thats why we ALL go to work isnt it? Why shouldnt we ask?

The main job I'm interested in is in Edinburgh and starts at 08.00 til 17.30ish, I've had an inside chat with one of their employees who says they are old school who frown at anyone leaving the site office before 18.00, so with an 1.5 hour comute, notgetting home potentially until dark o'clock my kids will be sleeping as they are quite young. soI wouldn't see them the whole week.

The good thing about it potentially a london type salary but up north with great benefits, want the cake and eat it kinda a thing.

Viney, would you recommend advising them of my reservations and detailing reasons, after all its as much me interviewing them if I wish to work for the prospective employer?

I may not be the Wonderful Viney, but I may have a pennyworth to add.

I had an interview today and I asked about flexibility due to family issues etc. The response from the young woman executive was both positive and reassuring. If anything it made me trust their corporate policy even more. Sadly if I told you who they were, I would have to kill you...

Also ask yourself, would you really want to work fro a company that asked you to put work before your own family?

Reminds me of that old Song Cats in the Cradle, by someone and covered by almost every one else... Someone will know who performed it first.

I missed my kids early years because I was out working all the hours.

I used to come home from work and my eldest would cry because he knew it was bedtime.

No amount of money will make up for those lost years.....

IMHO no job is worth missing out on your kids growing up.

Can you not work from home a couple days a week?
