If the inlet and outlet diameter is the same size as the SV link pipe then you should be ok.

I take it that M4 exhaust cost a bit then?

havent found out the price, but seen a couple of cheap off road cans which would look good shortened. they are a smaller diameter too which i prefer than the bulkier sportsbike ones

Usually a stinkers can is quite small, you need what's called a stinger on the end of the expansion chamber to cause the resonance, that's effectively the link pipe and the diameter is tiny. Not suited to a 4 strokes gas flow at all.

Bear in mind that a 2" I/d can, can restrict flow on a tuned engine, some big twins run twin 60mm I/d pipes. Looking at the road, untuned cagiva in the garage the "linkpipe" is about 20mm wide. It may be a little strangled!

2" is good for the SV650.

Yup the 60mm ones tend to be on thous. Anyway you'll struggle to get anything to run sweet with a silencer from a crosser.

I think tygaboy has done an off-road ish SV, it looked very sweet, the "tank" was just an airbox cover and the fuel went under the seat.
